  • 1. PHS Applied Science & Technology DUE WED OCT. 16 2013 Alternate Assignment : Bats and Geology Write a 1000 (maximum 1100) word study on the bats of Ontario and Quebec. Your study must describe bats – the animals - in terms of the following: • Myths about bats • Their lifespan and life cycle • Their population • Their body structure and how it is adapted to their needs • Their habitat • Their feeding habits • What preys on them • Their position in a food chain • Problems they may be facing • Their benefits to nature and humans • Problems they pose to humans • Things humans can do to help them • Research that can help them • Other pertinent aspects that you find interesting To be accepted your study must include the following: • An outline of your ideas – complete attached table • A rough draft – hand written • A final copy – typed • Format – Intro, Paragraphs, Conclusion • A reference section showing where you got your information The reference section is NOT included in the word – count. This will be due on Wednesday, October 16th 2013 in your AST class or in the teacher’s mailbox by the end of the day. Plagiarism is not accepted. You may use short 1-2 line quotes, but you must reference them. Write in your OWN WORDS.
