The difference between although / ɔ:l’ðəʊ / and but <ul><li>Ron went for a walk although it was raining. </li></ul><ul><li>We didn’t like the food but we ate it. </li></ul><ul><li>Although he has a good job, Matt is not happy. </li></ul><ul><li>Ron likes tea, but Tim likes coffee. </li></ul><ul><li>She wasn’t wearing a coat although it was quite cold. </li></ul><ul><li>Anna’s very intelligent, but she’s quite lazy. </li></ul>It joins 2 ideas when the second idea is different from the first one , or is surprising after the first one. It introduces an idea that makes your main idea seem surprising.
