Si-a incercat indemanarea si in designul de mobilier. Korovin. In 1901 s-a mutat din Moscova in regiunea Saint Petersburg. Aici a inceput sa lucreze ca designer de scena, combinand simbolismul si modernismul in productii dramatice pentru Diaghilev, Meyerhold si altii. Dupa Revolutia din 1917, Golovin si-a gasit de lucru in teatre din ce in ce mai putin, astfel ca a trecut la pictura si ilustratii grafice.
