  1. 1. Definition Golf tourism is the term used to describe trips undertaken by persons for which the main purpose is to play golf.
  2. 2. History Recorded as taking place on 26 February 1297, in the Netherlands, in a city called Loenen aan de Vecht, where the Dutch played a game with a stick and leather ball.

IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) Established in 1997, IAGTO's membership comprises 2117 accredited golf tour operators, golf resorts, hotels, golf courses, receptive operators, airlines, tourist boards, approved media and business partners in 95 countries including, at its core, 517 specialist golf tour operators in 62 countries.
