ApplicationsThere were about 1000 applications, and only 100 were shortlisted. I was one of those shortlisted nominees.
ApplicationsOut of the 100 shortlisted nominations, only 29 would become torchbearers. I became one of those torchbearers.
ApplicationsAnd now only 29 London 2012 Olympic Torchbearers remain. I am one of them.
My nomination• I was nominated by my scout leader to become a torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympics this year.• I was nominated for my passion in Abseiling, Climbing and Scouting.
My nomination• My scout leader nominated me for these reasons: “Nirav is a quiet but inspiring young man. As an explorer scout he is a conscientious and committed young leader helping cub scouts between the ages of 8 & 11. He began to learn how to climb as a scout and is now extending his climbing and abseiling skills so he can teach others in the future.”
Me as a torchbearer• I hope to run in Thanet.• I will be running one leg of the torch relay which is 300 metres.• I will run in mid-July.
The Torch• It is gold in colour to represent London.• It features 8000 holes to represent each of the 8000 torchbearers.• It is triangular in shape to represent the Olympic motto: “faster, stronger, higher”.
Thanks to Mrs. Rampall (Skip) for nominating me!
