History<br />It is 8,851.8 kilometers (5,500 miles includes mountains) from east to west of China.<br />It is one of the wonders of the world<br />It was created in the Ming Dynasty<br />Construction Period: About 2,000 years from the Warring States Period (476 BC - 221 BC) to Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)<br />
  • 3. History <br />Most of the great wall that I saw was created during the Ming dynasty <br />The wall was created to protect them from intruders <br />It was not known as the great wall until the Qin dynasty<br />
  • 4. What was the purpose of the” Great Wall.”<br />The wall was built to protect the soldiers from their enemies. (Mongdians)<br />Every emperor spent money on the building of the wall<br />It was not created in one era and was worked on by many dynasties<br />Beacon tower was a part of the wall where they would send smoke signals and alert the soldiers that they were being attacked.<br />

In what ways has the wall changed<br />The wall has been repaired over the years and will always need some type of work done from time to time <br />The reconstruction of the wall lasted for over 17,000 years <br />Over 2 million people have died in the reconstruction process for various reasons<br />If the boss felt as though the workers were not completing their job fast enough or not doing it correctly they would be killed.<br />
  • 7. cont<br />There is now a modern section of the wall<br />There is tobogan slide that can be taken from a certain section of the wall, and will take you back to the bottom of the wall<br />There are cable cars that have to be taken in order to get up to the wall and walk around<br />You can not gain access to the wall by walking from ground level.<br />

Information regarding picture<br />This section of the wall was built under the supervision of General XuDa of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang in the Ming Dynasty<br />Forts were built on 2 sides of the wall <br />There were 3 watch towers built <br />A tower called Zhengguan, which could be rarely seen on the great wall <br />The Northwest part of the the wall was constructed on 1,000 mountain high ridge<br />
