Use it to check on market action and seasonal trends. Keyword Tips Keep in mind that some words may be very popular but not the best choice for your local search category. Don’t just choose the most popular word, choose the most popular word that your buyer would use when searching for a local provider. For example: Let’s say you sell bridal gowns. Google shows that the keyword “wedding” gets over 30 million monthly searches while “wedding gowns” gets only 450,000. Even though “wedding” gets searched more, it’s not likely that someone would use that keyword to find a place to buy a gown. Optimize your site with buying-mode keywords, not curious-mode keywords for local search. Now that you’ve found your strategic keywords, it’s time to get your business registered right on all the major search engines.
