    BRANDING FOR GARMENTS
  • 3. SWING TICKET
    • Shape and size of swing ticket
    • Fabric, texture etc of swing ticket base
    • Applications that can be added to swing ticket eg Spot UV varnish which gives a ’glossy’ effect
    • Beads, sequins, ribbon etc can be eye catching
    • Ways of attaching swing ticket to garment – cord, satin ribbon etc
    • The back of the swing ticket is as important as the front – most swing tickets are double sided. The back of the ticket is usually where extra information and the barcode is attached
When designing a swing ticket for a garment you need to consider the following:
  • 4. SWING TICKET It is important to consider the front & back of the swing ticket when designing Front Back
  • 5. SWING TICKET
    • Swing tickets come in a variety of base qualities from card to fabric
    • Card weight/thickness for swing tickets is measured in gsm – the higher the gsm the thicker the card quality
    • Card can be matt finished, textured, glossy – or a combination of the above
    • Some swing tickets are fabric based – or include some elements of fabric
    • Using fabric can add value to a swing ticket and create the illusion that the brand/garment is more expensive
    • Fabric swing tickets are normally used in womenswear brands/retailers

  • 7. SWING TICKET
    • A swing ticket can be any size or shape
    • However larger and less standard shapes cost more to produce
    • An oblong shaped swing ticket is cheap to produce – on the opposite end of the scale a unique shape will need specific cutting equipment & more ‘man power’ to produce – therefore will cost a lot more
    • You will need to take the above into consideration while designing your swing ticket for a specific retailer or brand

  • 8. SWING TICKET
    • There are many applications that can be added to a swing ticket – depending on the base fabric/quality of the ticket
    • Spot UV varnish is a varnish that is applied to areas of the swing ticket to give a ‘glossy’ effect – this adds value to a swing ticket
    • Embossing – areas such as text can be embossed – this adds depth to a swing ticket – this is a technique applied usually to a matt card
    • Cut out sections
    • Fabric swing tickets lend themselves to applications such as diamante/studs/embroidery/sequins etc which can add drama/glamour to a garment
    • Eyelets – these can be plastic or metal
    • However it is to be noted that the more applications applied can increase the cost of the swing ticket and must be considered

  • 10. SWING TICKET
    • There are several options when attaching a ticket to a garment
    • The swing ticket is usually attached through the size pip/back neck label
    • The most commonly used are cords or ribbons depending on the gender of the garment that it is for

  • 11.
    • Other things to consider when designing a swing ticket :
    • Does the swing ticket reflect the garments/range/brand – does it convey the brand ethos?
    • Does it include brand logos/colours etc?
    • Will the swing ticket stand out on the garment & does it look attractive?
    • Does it give out the image you want it to?
    • Does it reflect the correct market level?
    SWING TICKET
  • 12.
    • Back neck labels are just as important as swing tickets in conveying the brand/retailers image
    • They should encompass the brand/retailers logo
    • Back neck labels are usually woven
    • Size pips are important as they are looped so that
    • Swing tickets can be attached through them
BACK NECK LABEL & SIZE PIPS Woven back neck labels & size pips should be designed at the same time as the swing ticket to maintain a strong brand image
  • 13. BRANDING FOR ONLINE RETAILERS
    • Online retailers face different branding challenges to high retailers & have to consider the following:
    • Packing of product – how will the garments be packaged to be sent out to the customer – making them look presentable is import
    • Will the garments be sent out in a poly bag? Wrapped in tissue? Or in a bag or a box? This will of course depend on the quality of the garments and online retailer
    • Will the invoice/receipt be dropped in the box – or will it be placed in side a receipt holder?
  • 14. EXTRA IMAGES OF BRANDING
  • 15. EXTRA IMAGES OF BRANDING
  • 16.
    • Could you send out a bag for life/canvas shopper out with orders?– if the customer uses the bag this is free advertising for the brand/retailer
    • Could you send out a mini brochure or magazine/mini look book which tell the customer about future ranges/garments etc that will be online in the months to come?

  • 17. BRANDING FOR ONLINE RETAILERS
    • As an online retailer you need to maximise the potential of forward orders by thinking about forms of promotions
    • This is an ideal opportunity to secure future orders with the customer – so it is important that you ensure the following:
    • GARMENT LOOKS GOOD – HIGH QUALITY
    • BRANDING LOOKS GOOD & REFLECTS BRAND/RETAILER
    • GARMENTS ARE PACKAGED WELL & LOOK GOOD WHEN RECEIVED BY THE CUTOMER
    • ANY PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL SENT OUT WITH THE ORDER, - RECEIPT HOLDERS/MAGAZINES/POSTCARDS ETC LOOK PROFESSIONAL
    • USE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENCOURAGE THE CUSTOMER TO RE-VISIT THE WEBSITE & MAKE FUTURE PURCHASES
    In conclusion:
