PAIR OF LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES INTRODUCTION

Hey man! How I’m not a much does the man! flour cost? Can’t he see that?? My dad isn’t here..rightnow..and I don’tknow the rates..

So, Should I wait untilyour dad comes..I don’t have time..Do you at least know the cost of ground nuts? I know nothing! My dad asked me to look after the shop..but he didn’t give my any price list..So, how can I give you any item?

You don’t know the cost of flour! You don’t know the cost of groundnuts! What, man! Why’re you here? AGAIN!!!Hey! That reminds me..My dad told one of his customers yesterday thatthe cost of groundnuts hasbecome three times that of flour

Do you remember what were the items he bought? Yes! Yes! Of course…He asked for 2 kg ground nuts and 3 kgWhat was flour..the total cost?

I think it cost him around Rs. 180 . Anyway, why are you asking so many questions? I still don’t know the costs of flour and groundnut!You gave me two pieces of information: (a) cost(Groundnut)= 3 x cost (flour)(b)2 x cost(G.nut) + 3 x cost(flour) = 180

use (a) & (b)By solving those two equations, I can get the cost ofGroundnut as well as flourCost (Groundnut) = 60Cost (Flour) = 20

But, how’ d you get that? Well, with those two pieces of information you gave me, I made two equations and so, got the costs! I still didn’t understandthat..Do you get It’s simple the cost of any man!! item that way?

Not only cost of an item!Our everyday activities are in one wayor the other related to equations. Onething I really find most useful in Math! Will tell you the next time..I don’t have time right now! Give me a kg of groundnut and flour each! Hurry! Right away, Man!!

So, now I know that these equations are useful ineveryday life. Hmm…SoundsInteresting!! I wonder what an equation is!! and how they can be used to find answers to a lot of problems. Will ask the man-guy the next time ;)
