    • On May the 12 th 1851 a man named John
    • Havgraves found the largest nugget ever.

    • Many countries came to Australia find gold such as North America, United Kingdom, Europe and China.

  • 4. Supplies
    • Tea: The miners would drink lots of tea because they would be hot while working.
    • Blankets: The miners would need blankets because in Ballarat it is very cold and it will keep them warm.
    • Tents: The tent protected the miner from the rain and the hot sun
    • Meat: The mutton (old lamb) would last for 8 day .They put salt on the mutton so it can last longer
    • Flour: The miners would make damper of out flour and water.
  • 5. Tools
    • Some miners brought some of there tool such as picks, pans, cradles, shovels and a windlass
  • 6. Location The gold rush was in Ballarat in Victoria .

    • Here are some pictures of gold at the gold rush
  • 8. Digging
    • They began digging in the hard ground because they would find more gold.
    • Most miners would dig 10 meter because they would use a windlass to carry all to dirt up and pour it out and find gold.
