Uses a strategy that is partially useful, leading in some way toward a solution, but not to a complete solution of the problem. There is evidence of reasoning that is appropriate to the problem. There is an explanation offered that can lead, with inferences, to the solution. The presentation may not be clear and there may be some details omitted. Novice There is an effort to solve the problem but the solutions and concepts employed do not relate to the problem.
