      190500Other people find talking to toddlers boring and just a waste of time, but if you like kids, talking to these tiny tots can be so amusing and entertaining, especially when you watch how their eyes lit up whenever they speak up, and how they project themselves when they want to emphasize a point, really cute. It’s important though, on how to talk to toddlers, to keep in mind that they comprehend what is being said to them in a literal way. So just take it slow, make your words simple and keep your sentences short for them to understand things easily.

      Since this is the stage wherein toddlers are starting to learn how to communicate with others and express themselves, it is important to use real words and speak only two to three sentences at a time. Talking with kids will motivate them to talk also, however, be sure that you have to talk with them, not at them. Just in case, you have run out of ideas or topics to start a conversation with a small kid, you can play games with them that involve sounds and words, use nursery rhymes, stories or song lyrics.
      Listening is a very significant factor on how to talk to toddlers. Show them that you are listening when they talk to you, this way; you are teaching them that it is also important to listen to you when you speak. Let your child be made aware of the different action words like playing, putting, washing, cutting and many others.
      Remember that you are talking to a small child, that being the case, do not use confusing words, metaphors, or long words, you will just confuse them. Just say exactly what you mean.
