  • 1. Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 2.
    • How did this come about?
    • Well, I came to work one day…
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 3.
  • 4.
    • And would you know it, another queue for the lift!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 5.
  • 6.
    • I hate queuing for the lift!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 7.
  • 8.
    • The only other option is the stairs…
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 9.
  • 10.
    • But I don’t like climbing the stairs. They’re boring…
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 11.
  • 12.
    • So what can I do to make climbing the stairs more interesting and exciting?
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 13.
  • 14.
    • Hmmm…
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 15.
  • 16.
  • 17.
    • I‘ve got it!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 18.
  • 19.
    • What if I treated the stairs…
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 20.
  • 21.
    • …like a mountain?!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 22.
  • 23.
    • And right then and there, the stairs changed before my eyes!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 24.
  • 25.
  • 26.
  • 27.
    • Yep, there was no escaping it: the stairs had become a mountain to me!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 28.
  • 29.
    • I had to climb them!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 30.
  • 31.
    • So what on earth does this have to do with you?
    • Well, from that moment on, I thought everyone would enjoy climbing a mountain.
    • But not just any mountain!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 32. THIS MOUNTAIN!!!
  • 33.
    • No, not the Paramount mountain…
    • …EVEREST!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 34.
    • So what is the plan?
    • Well, I did some measuring…
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 35.
  • 36.
    • And it turns out that:
    • There are 149 steps
    • Each step is half a foot high
    • That’s 74.5ft every time you walk them!
    • Or 372.5ft a week!
    • That’s quite a lot.
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 37.
    • Now, if we apply those calculations (bear with me) to some of the biggest peaks on each continent…
    • Mont Blanc is 15,782ft high
    • Kilimanjaro is 19,340ft high
    • Everest is 29,035ft high
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 38.
    • It would take:
    • Over 42 weeks to climb the equivalent of Mont Blanc!
    • And about a year and a half to climb the equivalent of Everest!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 39.
    • That’s WAY TOO LONG!
    • Instead, I propose we do it in 3 teams!
    • Project Development and Employment & Skills
    • Commissioning and Operations
    • Economic Strategy
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 40.
    • At the end of every week, just email me how many times you’ve walked up the stairs!
    • I’ll put it in a super-duper spreadsheet calculation matrix.
    • BAM! We see how far each team has got!
    Climb the Peaks Challenge
  • 41.
    • Who’s up for it?
