    Grow Smart Biz is a Network Solutions initiative designed to provide educational resources and information to small businesses .   It provides a forum for the small business community to share knowledge with each other as well as learn from industry experts.   It also highlights findings from the small business success index, which is an ongoing measurement the competitive health of small business.    Visitor to the site are invited to take the Small Business Success survey to find out where they rank in the Index  

    The Small Business Success Index was established through a partnership between Network Solutions and the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business   In January 2009, the initial Index surveyed over 1,000 small businesses with less than 100 employees. The survey was fielded again in June of 2009   The Index focuses on six key areas of business including: Marketing & Innovation, Capital Access, Workforce, Customer Service, Computer Technology and Compliance.   As you can see, marketing and innovation is a key area of focus and is only receiving a C-; however in small businesses surveyed in June report that 66% say that the economy has led them to find new ways to operate more efficiently. Also 42% believe the economy has caused their company to become a better team.
