  2. 3. Amaia Montero Amaia Montero Saldías (born August 26, 1976), best known as the vocalist of La Oreja de Van Gogh between 1996 and 2007, is a singer/songwriter from Basque Country, Spain. Including her work with the band, Montero has sold more than 6.5 million albums worldwide.
  3. 4. Background Amaia attended UPV/EHU studying Chemistry, where she met the rest of the band members. When the band became famous, she switched studies to Psychology at the UNED. She later stopped studying. Her personality has been described as sociable, fun and very accessible. She has a vocal instructor, and although she can not attend classes regularly due to lack of time, the benefit to her voice is evident.
  4. 5. Musical career Amaia joined La Oreja de Van Gogh in 1996. They met at a party. With the addition of Amaia, training hitherto informally called The Nameless was renamed La Oreja de Van Gogh. Since that time, did all the compositions of the group, had previously only versions of other artists.They recorded their first album, Dile al sol, with whom they won seven times platinum in Spain. Their second studio album, called El viaje de Copperpot, was released on 11 September 2000.In 2001 they won the award for Best Spanish Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.In April 28, 2003 released their third album,Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida. 1996-2007: La Oreja de Van Gogh
  5. 6. From 2007 to present: solo career Between January and June 2008, performed the first layout in Madrid. The disc contains eleven tracks, all composed by her. The album was released on sale on 18 November 2008 and reached number one in Spain, selling more than 40,000 copies.The first single, Quiero Ser. The second single was Ni puedo ni quiero.
