  • 1. PREPARATORY FOR SYNTHETIC FIFBRES
    • Synthetic fibres: No natural impurites
    • Added impurities: spin finishes, antistatic agents t improve physical and mechanical properties during spinning, weaving and knitting.
    • Other impurities: Dirt, Sighting/tinting colours to identify different fibre grades.
    • Objective
    • To remove dirt, size, process lubricants and sighting colours.
  • 2. SCOURING OF SYNTHETIC FIBRE FABRICS
    • Scouring of polyester and Nylon
    • A separate step of desizing is not essential in case of synthetic yarn. Water soluble PVA is most commonly used for sizing.
    • Scouring bath
    • Soda ash 2-3 g/l
    • Non inoic detergent 1-2 g/l
    • Temp. 70-80 deg. C
    • Time 30-60 min.
    • Scouring of acrylic
    • Acrylic tends to yellow in alkaline solution at high temp.
    • Scouring is carried out with alkali under in presence of non-ionic detergent above conditions
  • 3. SCOURING OF PET/COTTON BLENDS
    • Scouring is mainly designed for the removal of natural impurities from cotton
    • Conditions of scouring are milder to avoid alkaline hydrolysis of polyester
    • Scouring may be carried our either batch or continuous processes using equipments like jigger or J-box
  • 4. SCOURING OF PET/COTTON BLENDS
    • Scouring conditions
    • Caustic soda 3% owf., 1-2 g/l anionic detergent, 70 deg. C, 90 min OR 100 deg.C for 30 min.
    • Soda ash 10 g/l, anionic detergent 1-2 g/l, 100 deg. C, 60 min
    • Caustic soda 2 g/l, Soda ash 5 g/l/ anionic detergent 1-2 g/l, 75 deg. C for 60 min.
    • H2O2 Bleaching
    • H2O2 10 g/l, Soda ash 2 g/l, Sod. Silicate 3-5 g/l
    • Temp 80 deg. C Time 60 min.
    • Each treatment followed by hot and cold water washing
