  1. 1. Site Optimization Process – Title Tag Optimization Optimization Item: Title Tag What is Title Tag? Title tag is a short descriptive phrase used to describe the content of a web page. Title tags are what the user sees at the top bar of the browser window and also in the tabs if multiple browser tabs are open. Although it is an important tag, Title tag is NOT a Meta tag. How is it used? 1. Used in the top bar of the browser window 2. Used in the tab text if multiple browser tabs are open 3. Used as the hyper-link text as the Title of the page in search engine results 4. Used as the reference text when a page is bookmarked in a browser (favorites) 5. Several sites use the Title tag of a web page as the hyper-linked text to link to a web page 6. Several directory editors and webmasters review the title tag before inclusion. A wellwritten title tag ensures a speedy inclusion in the directory SEO importance: (Very High) The Title tag is one of the most important factors in achieving high search engine rankings. The presence of important keywords in the title tag is the first and most important indication to search engines on how to classify the page and its relevance to a specific topic. It’s very important that each page on the site has a different title to reflect that specific pages content. Having uniform title tags across all pages is a waste of prime optimization space. How to prepare (Tips): 1. Title tag should be a short and simple phrase, which accurately describes the page content 2. Although Google displays only first 65-70 characters of the title tag in the search result pages, we believe that it can actually read (and reward) up to 128 characters. 3. Since only the first 65-70 characters are displayed in SERP, the words in the first 65 characters should read like a complete phrase 4. Title tag should read like a sales pitch, enough to encourage curiosity and a clickthrough from SERPs 5. The name of the company should appear in the title tag ONLY on the home page. Using it on all the internal pages is a waste of prime optimization space 6. Title tag should be unique for each page 7. Title tag should contain main keywords selected for the page 8. Do not repeat keywords in title tag more than twice or use plural variations unless necessary Appearance in code & correct syntax: In HTML code, the Title tag is inserted into the header of your web page between the <head> section and looks like this: <head> <title>Tech Sprinters : Leading Website Development, Link Building & Search Engine Optimization SEO Services Provider</title> </head>
