    Tirumala can be reached on foot on two paths— Alipiri, in use for a long time, and SrivariMettu, about 20 km away, nearer to Lord KalyanaVenkateshwaraSwamy temple at SrinivasaMangapuram.

    TTD runs 2 free buses with a frequency of 1-2hrs from railway station and bus stand at Tirupati . Auto and taxi are available for hire to reach the basement of srivarimettu.

    Through SRIVARI METTU , it is only 2400 steps and 3km distance.

    • 9. REACH Tirupathi Railway station and from there TTD free buses are available in 2hrs gap from 7am from RAILWAY STATION .
    • 10. Auto can be hired for Rs.150/= to the starting point of srivarimettufrom tirupathi bus stand or Rly. Stn.

    Take the darshan and blessing of Lord KalyanaVenkateshaperumal at Srinivasamangapuram and you can keep your baggages with lock and give the same at free transportation facility counter which is quite close to the temple [just 100m away from the main gate of the temple].
    NOTE : WITHOUT LOCK THEY WILL NOT TAKE THE LUGGAGES AND IT IS TOTAL FREE SERVICE FROM TTD BOARD.

    Second way is you can catch any bus which is going to mandanapalli from tirupathi main bus stand and get down at Srinivasmangapura and take darshan of Lord KalyanavenkateshwaraPerumal and give luggage to free collection centre and take the free bus/hire auto [6km distance] to reach the basement of srivarimettu.
    NOTE : IN SRINIVASA MANGAPURAM YOU CAN HAVE THE DARSHAN OF LORD KALYAN SRINIVASA.

    According to legend Lord VenkateswaraSwamy stayed here after his wedding with Sri PadmavatiDevi before he proceeds to Tirumala,LordVenkateswaramarried padmavathi. While trekking to Tirumala hills he desires to visit saint called Agastyar and receive blessings from the saint and as per his advice Lord Venkateswarastayed below the hills for 6 months.
    When Lord decides to go back to Tirumala he gave two boons to the devotees to those whoever could not be able to do darshan at Tirumala can worship me at SrinivasaMangapuram and the same moksha can be attained.

    Steps are good and convenient to walk. For faster walking, do not see the steps straight-up while climbing and keep watching the steps below your foot and count for 50-100 steps in each run and rest a while and continue further. My 2 sons [12yrs and 8yrs] couch finish in 1hr time and me and my wife [both are 40plus] took 100mts to complete.

  • 40. According to TTD statistics, the number of pilgrims using the SrivariMettu is 3,500 on an average on normal days and 8,000 during weekends and festivals.
    While it takes four to six hours to reach Tirumala on foot from Alipiri, it takes only two to three hours from SrivariMettu.
