    4. A ccreditation
      • Meant to improve library service by strengthening libraries
      • Program started in 1986, by concerned librarians across the state
      • Gives libraries a set of standards to work toward
    5. Why be A ccredited?
      • Eligible for federal aid
      • Eligible for state aid
      • Eligible to apply for Library Improvement Grants, Youth Grants, and Continuing Education Grants

      • Initially
      • The Commission will send you a letter around July 15
      • You go through the list of requirements.
      • If you have met the requirements, send in the application by Sept. 1.
      • At Renewal
      • The Commission will send you a letter around July 15
      • You go through the list of requirements.
      • If you have met the requirements, send in the application by Sept. 1.

      • Gives librarians the opportunity to keep up and to learn.
      • Requirement for Accreditation.
      • Just sign up
      • Tell us your email and your snail mail addresses.
      • Tell us your level of education.
      • We’ll send you a certificate.
      • We’ll enter you into the database.
      • We’ll give you a password to check your record online.

      • Fulfill the Basic Skills requirements
      • Participate in library-related C.E. activities
      • Earn 45 C.E. credits
      • Report your attendance within 90 days
      • (unless the activity was sponsored by the N.L.C. or a Regional System)
      • Let us know if there’s a problem
      • Renewal is automatic
      • No fees!
