There are many stories of importance to communities and many ways that they can be gathered and made accessible. Archives New Zealand has proudly developed The Community Archive (previously known as the National Register of Archives and Manuscripts – NRAM) as a free web-based archives management system that enables community historians and archivists to both manage archives and make them accessible, using international standards. At this forum in 2008, Archives New Zealand described the features that would be available in “the new NRAM”. This
presentation showcases those features and the benefits of The Community Archive that was launched in June. An impressive feature of The Community Archive is the ease with which people who have had little experience of archiving can add information to showcase their collections to the website.
