  • Thank you Navdeep. This is a good presentation capturing the environmental degradation due to human actions, and also how wise use of technology may help to address the degradation. Has the Sampuran initiative already installed biogas plants, or is it just being started. It would be useful to know about the institutional mechanisms by which it is being implemented. Are the biogas plants managed by companies/ panchayats / cooperatives / individuals?

  • Ladies and Gentlemen: I come from Punjab and I am both an agriculturist and an agro-industrialist. With the help of the Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, with which my Company NASA AGRO has recently signed an MoU for contract farming for production of castor oil. However, in this presentation I shall be sharing with you the steps we have taken to reduce the cost of caster oil seeds cultivation by introducing contract farming and promoting allied activities for the farmers. I call this experiment ‘NavJyoti’ for the simple reason, that it is going to give to the farmers a new hope, a better deal once they agree to diversify from the traditional crops, as also to the castrol oil producers.
  • All of you are aware of the State of Punjab…it is called the granary of India being the largest producer of wheat crop. It is here that the Green Revolution took place in the 60s that gave a tremendous boost to the state’s economy.
