Abstract
This paper is a reflection of the Google Guide which is to make searching easier for students.
Using the “Novice Tutorial Guide and “Crafting Your Query by using Special Characters” are
two sites that are geared to help students gain a clearer understanding of what they need to do as
they search for important information. They should also be able to use tools effectively as they
evaluate the information from the site they use. Using this information from these tutorials help
students to develop and evaluate the knowledge in searching effectively. It is important for
students to know the task they are working on, and given the big idea to keep in mind in order to
align their task with standards effectively and with the information found on the site. It should
also be based on the subject/ content area been studied.

Reflection
The information I learned using the novices guide from Google guide is that I can create a lesson
plan for my students where they will be able to increase their understanding which can lead to
improved student performance from using the novice query. The words they choose when using
a search tool such as Google will help students to figure out the right search terms to develop a
query or how the search term will help them interpret the information they are searching for.
Google novice was very helpful to acquire information for “Crafting your Query by using
Special Characters”. With this, students are able to “fine-tune” their search query using special
operators and characters in the query. The content based standards for science or any other
content based standards can be addressed to evaluate the search results. Students will search
terms to develop their results finding by creating queries to complete their Living Environment
lab. Students can interpret the information found to complete the lab. It is important that
students use these tutorials to help them to analyze and explore in the digital age of the Twenty
First Century. This will prepare students to be contributors to the new world we live in. This
will also give students an understanding of the resources that can help them to stay on a given
task, keep their big idea in mind and at the same time fulfil the standards for that content area.
