Shelter House Client Demographics <ul><li>12-17 (But they have siblings & guardians) </li></ul><ul><li>Homelessness, chemical dependency, runaway, abuse, poverty, behavioral issues, sexual identity, mental health, educational concerns, developmental issues </li></ul><ul><li>Each client has a unique identity and culture </li></ul><ul><li>No YOUTH has ONE issue that is a quick fix. With most clients it is difficult to determine what THE issue is. </li></ul>

Shelter House Agency Demographics <ul><li>In 2004 we stopped offering therapy as a part of our program. </li></ul><ul><li>Short length of stay (Average 6 days) </li></ul><ul><li>We are a transitional placement for many youth </li></ul><ul><li>Collaborative partnerships with service providers are utilized to help teens and families. </li></ul><ul><li>Choice Program </li></ul><ul><li>Advocacy and Empowerment is Central to our mission </li></ul>

Casey Foundation </li></ul><ul><li>Strength Based / Solution Focused </li></ul><ul><li>Alternative to court or agency ordered solutions </li></ul><ul><li>Utilizes existing and potential family resources to identify solutions </li></ul><ul><li>Recognizes Families are the experts on their family </li></ul><ul><li>Allows an agency to guide toward a solution instead of forcing compliance </li></ul><ul><li>Family generated solutions have the most buy in because of the ownership created during the process </li></ul>
