In June 2007 Google completed a 1.6MW solar installation at the Mountain View, CA headquarters - the largest U.S. corporate installation at that time. They installed 9,212 solar panels that cover the rooftops of eight buildings and two solar carports at the Googleplex. This installation produces enough electricity to power 30% of Google's peak electricity demand in the solar powered buildings. That's the equivalent of approximately 1,000 California homes. Denver International Airport is going greener. The nation’s fifth-busiest airport has announced plans for a 2 megawatt solar energy system to generate 3.5 million kilowatt hours of clean energy each year – about half the power needed to run the airport’s terminal-connecting underground train system.
