Digital storytelling romeo and juilet (1)
1. Digital Storytelling using a digital medium
In this project we had a look at various medium’s on which we could tell our story. We wanted to tell a story
that was instantly recognisable to readers, but to tell the story from the characters point of view.
We decided on the conversation method, on where we would enter a day in a life of the two characters. We
instantly decided on the story of Romeo and Juilet, to meet our objective of the story and characters being
instantly recognisable to readers. To achieve this sense of personal conversation, we had a look at various
inter-personal methods of communication that the two characters could have. These included –
• Texting through SMS Messaging through mobile
• Social Networking such as Facebook
• Emails
• Twitter
We then decided to use Twitter. This allowed us to have real-time conversations, with the 140 character limit
replicating that of a real conversation.
We chose to stage an argument between the two characters, Romeo and Juilet using Twitter and some of it’s
applications for example TwitPic – which allowed us to take pictures and upload them to Twitter.
2. We started off by designing the Twitter pages and filling in the descriptions.
3. We then wrote the narrative based on the personalities based on the original play.
