Hardware Implementation of a Digital Watermarking System for Video Authentication AIM: The main aim of the project is to design and implement “Hardware Implementation of a Digital Watermarking System for Video Authentication”. ABSTRACT: This paper presents a hardware implementation of a digital watermarking system that can insert invisible, semi-fragile watermark information in compressed video streams in real time. The watermark embedding is processed in the discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain. To achieve high performance, the proposed system architecture employs pipeline structure and uses parallelism. Hardware implementation using field programmable gate array (FPGA) has been done and an experiment was carried out using a custom versatile breadboard for overall performance evaluation. Experimented results show that such a hardware-based video authentication system using this watermarking technique features minimum video quality degradation and it can withstand certain potential attacks i.e. coverup attack, cropping, segment removal on video sequences. Furthermore, the proposed hardware based watermarking system features low power consumption, low cost implementation, high processing speed and reliability.   3. 3.  The proposed watermark system is capable of watermarking video streams in the DCT domain in real time.  It was also demonstrated that the designed system is capable to achieve the required security level with minor video frame quality degradation.
