DEVELOPING A SMART CAMERA FOR GESTURERECOGNITION IN HCI APPLICATIONSAIM:The main aim the project is to design “DEVELOPING A SMARTCAMERA FOR GESTURE RECOGNITION IN HCI APPLICATIONS”.ABSTRACT:Smart camera or an intelligent camera is an embedded vision system whichcaptures and processes image to extract application-specific information in realtime. Smart cameras are used in many applications such as automatic controlsystems, machine vision systems, automatic video surveillance systems andhuman computer interaction (HCI).Smart cameras are becoming more popular in human computer interaction.One of HCI research areas, multimodal user interface (MMUI) allows user tointeract with a computer by using his or her natural communication modalities,such as speech, pen, touch, gestures, eye gaze, and facial expression.Our Embedded project presents the hardware and software co design andimplementation of smart camera for recognize simple hand gestures.www.nanocdac.com www.nsrcnano.com branches: hyderabadnagpur
  • 2. Our Embedded System uses face and hand detections as a tool to detect andtrack gesture (face and hand motion). This detected information is given to ARMmicro controller which has feature of image/video processing.This system captures the image from webcam which is connected to microcontroller through USB device and the image is processed by means of imageprocessing technique.
