We encourage applications from individuals with previous experience in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineer- ing, telecommunications engineering, and other relevant areas, although that specific background is not mandatory. A limited number of Ph.D. positions are available for enrollment as early as the spring semester of 2013. Ph.D. students may have the opportunity to conduct research side-by-side with their faculty advisor in residence at MIT in Cambridge, USA, as well as at other institutions that are partnering with Skoltech in its Centers for Research, Education, and Innovation (CREI). All admitted Ph.D. students at Skoltech will receive an internationally competitive package of financial support, includ- ing a stipend, tuition waiver, housing arrangements, and medical insurance. Skoltech welcomes applications from Russian students as well as students outside of Russia. The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology is a new English-language graduate university founded in 2011 and located just outside of Moscow in the Skolkovo Innovation Center. Estab- lished in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Skoltech will educate future generations of entrepreneurial scientists, advance knowledge, and foster technological innovation to address the critical issues facing Russia and the world.
