About Naval Air Facility (NAF) Misawa is an associate command, hosted by the U.S. Air Force 35th Fighter Wing (FW) on board Misawa Air Base. It is located near the northern tip of Honshu, the largest of the islands that comprise Japan. The air base is home to U.S. military, Japanese Air Self Defense Forces (JASDF), and civilian airline activities.
Led by U.S. Navy Capt. James D. Haugen, NAF Misawa is tasked with providing aviation and ground logistic support and services to all permanent and transient USN and USMC forces in Northern Japan.
