  1. Medicaid Enrollees in Illinois in 2010 <ul><li>Over 3,000,000 individuals, which is approximately ¼ of the state’s population </li></ul><ul><li>Over 2,500,000 had a claim in FY2010 </li></ul>
  2. Enrollees in 2014 <ul><li>At least 500,000 will be added on account of the ACA </li></ul><ul><li>A significant majority of them living below 133% of federal poverty line </li></ul><ul><li>The State will get a 90/10% match from the Federal Government </li></ul>
  3. Enrolled in Medicaid in FY2010 3,069,217 individuals use $11 billion annually
  4. High Users of Dollars <ul><li>93,155 (or 3%) use half of all the Medicaid funds (or $6 billion) </li></ul><ul><li>4,442 (or 0.14%) use one tenth of all the funds (or $1,095,000,000) </li></ul><ul><li>The 4,442 each use an average of $ 246,000 each year </li></ul>
  5. Most Medicaid Dollars - <ul><li>Top 5 deciles: </li></ul><ul><li>Hospitalizations – 50+ % </li></ul><ul><li>Nursing Homes – 10+ % </li></ul>
  6. BOTTOM LINE <ul><li>As Medicaid enrollment and costs increase by 2014, supportive housing interventions will save a very significant amount of dollars ! </li></ul><ul><li>The homeless with chronic illnesses will have safe and dignified housing !! </li></ul>
