  • 2. PARTS OF A PLANT PLANTS NEED SUN,WATER,AIR AND SOIL.  SOME PLANTS HAVE FRUIT.  LEAVES ABSORB OXYGEN AND SUNLIGHT.  ROOTS ABSORB WATER AND MINERAL.  THE STEM SUPPORTS THE PLANT. Click on the musical notes and listen to the song. Click on the apple tree and watch the video.
  • 3. TREES, BUSHES AND GRASS  TREES HAVE ATHICK STEM (TRUNK) THAT HAS BRANCHES.  BUSHES HAVE A LOT OF THIN STEMS.  GRASS IS THIN AND BENDY.
  • 4. DECIDUOUS AND EVERGREENTREES  DECIDUOUSTREES LOSE THEIR LEAVES IN AUTUMN.THE LEAVES CHANGE COLOUR, FALL TOTHE GROUND AND GROW IN SPRING AGAIN.  EVERGREENTREES DO NOT LOSETHEIR LEAVES IN AUTUMN, AND THEY ARE GREEN ALLYEAR.
  • 5. LIFE CYCLE OF A PLANT  THE ROOTS ABSORB WATER AND MINERALS.  WATER GOES THROUGH THE STEMS TO THE LEAVES.  THE LEAVES ABSORB SUNLIGHT.  PLANTS PRODUCE FOOD IN THEIR LEAVES.

  • 7. PLANTS REPRODUCE SEEDS. SOME PLANTS HAVE FLOWERS.THE FRUIT CONTAINS SEEDS.THE FRUIT MATURES AND FALLS TO THE GROUND. NEW PLANTS GROW. POLLEN. FLOWERS HAVE STAMENS THAT CONTAIN POLLEN.WIND OR INSECTS MOVETHE POLLEN TO OTHER FLOWERS AND THEY REPRODUCE.
  • 8. USE OF PLANTS  SOME PLANTS ARE AROMATIC (WE USE THEM IN PERFUMES, e.g. LAVENDER).  SOME PLANTS ARE MEDICINAL (e.g. CAMOMILE).  WE USE SOME PLANTS AS CONDIMENT IN COOKING (e.g. PARSLEY).
  • 9. PLANTS ARE IMPORTANT  PLANTS GIVE US FOOD AND OXYGEN.  THEY GIVE ANIMALS HOMES,TOO.
