  • 2. PARTS OF A PLANTPLANTS NEED SUN, WATER, AIR AND SOIL. SOME PLANTS HAVE FRUIT. LEAVES ABSORB OXYGEN AND SUNLIGHT. ROOTS ABSORB WATER AND MINERAL. THE STEM SUPPORTS THE PLANT. Click on the musical notes and listen to the song. Click on the apple tree and watch the video.
  • 3. TREES, BUSHES AND GRASS TREES HAVE A THICK STEM (TRUNK) THAT HAS BRANCHES. BUSHES HAVE A LOT OF THIN STEMS. GRASS IS THIN AND BENDY.
  • 4. DECIDUOUS AND EVERGREEN TREES DECIDUOUS TREES LOSE THEIR LEAVES IN AUTUMN. THE LEAVES CHANGE COLOUR, FALL TO THE GROUND AND GROW IN SPRING AGAIN. EVERGREEN TREES DO NOT LOSE THEIR LEAVES IN AUTUMN, AND THEY ARE GREEN ALL YEAR.
  • 5. LIFE CYCLE OF A PLANT THE ROOTS ABSORB WATER AND MINERALS. WATER GOES THROUGH THE STEMS TO THE LEAVES. THE LEAVES ABSORB SUNLIGHT. PLANTS PRODUCE FOOD IN THEIR LEAVES.

  • 8. USE OF PLANTS SOME PLANTS ARE AROMATIC (WE USE THEM IN PERFUMES, e.g. LAVENDER). SOME PLANTS ARE MEDICINAL (e.g. CAMOMILE). WE USE SOME PLANTS AS CONDIMENT IN COOKING (e.g. PARSLEY).
  • 9. PLANTS ARE IMPORTANT PLANTS GIVE US FOOD AND OXYGEN. THEY GIVE ANIMALS HOMES, TOO.
