Implications: General 63% NGOs surveyed work in the education sector and 47% work on health and disabilities 77% NGOs have less than 20 employees 61% NGOs have an annual operating budget of less than Rs. 10 lakhs and 20% have budgets less than Rs. 1 lakh 35% NGOs are registered as Trusts, 48% as societies and 11% as Section 25 companies 50% NGOs do not have 80G and 58% do not have FCRA 75% NGOs apply for less than 10 grants in a year

Implications: Donations 55% NGOs give high priority to raising donations. 59% NGOs have never received any corporate donations. 33% NGOs say that most of their funding is provided by the founders 72% NGOs don’t receive any funding from Indian Foundations and 65% don’t receive any funds from International Foundations 49% NGOs receive no funds from the government

Implications: External Help 25% NGOs are interested in an ‘email setup campaign’, if done for free 40% NGOs are interested in ‘internet publishing’ (content development and communication strategy), if done for free 60% NGOs want to significantly improve their management (financial and human resources) 25% NGOs are willing to pay for a webpage setup 71% NGOs want to significantly improve fund-raising
  • 5. Implications:Volunteers 36% NGOs find volunteers through word of mouth 48% NGOs are satisfied with the volunteer skills 38% NGOs require more volunteers
