Chat minklet

 1. 1. Chat Minklet conceptualization

Overview

Minklet Flow

Motivation/Advantage to user

Framework enhancements needed

Pages in detail (optional)

 2. 2. Overview

Minkle User

Gtalk friends Non-minkle users Or Friends communicating over sms Fellow minkle users

Minkle chat – all kind of textual communication from mobile under 1 roof

Cross platform group chat among minkle users, non-minkle users & gtalk friends

Group chat cloud 1-to-1 chat
 3. 3. Dashboard Page Chat Page Add user page
 4. 4. Salient Features

There is no need for user to worry if the friend is on gtalk/minkle/on-sms . Minkle would take care of it all.

A p2p chat from minkle-to-minkle if both the users are on sms, would avoid the delay & would keep messaging fast

User has an option to choose to send message either from server or directly to the user (if possible) as sms. So friends on minkle & using GPRS as well as friends using gtalk are accessible to the user who is on sms. Vice versa – GPRS guys can send either direct sms or sms via server to their friends who are on sms.

It is possible to chat with people without needing to explicitely add them as friend. Its like chat messaging where you can message/add anybody you like to.

 5. 5. Motivation to move to Minkle

For Minkle user on sms

Talk to your gtalk friends from mobile without gprs

Group chat & pay only for 1 sms to be delivered to whole group (for a delay off-course)

No inbox clutter

For Minkle user over gprs

'sms' your friends through gprs & save sms cost

1-to-1 chat with friends (minkle or non-minkle guys) over gprs & you never need to use sms

No need of separate s/w like fring for gtalk

Common Advantages

Iphone style chat view – all conversation threads are stacked as chat – easy to manage

One stop for being 'text connected' across platform (like gtalk, minkle, non-minkle)

 6. 6. Framework changes/limitations

Remove custom buttons from chat page. No logoff thing needed for chat pages.

While auto/manual refresh, 'loading ..' kind of thing should be shown & the page content should remain visible

The tokens would come for the chat pages. Not sure how/what that would affect

Once user closes a chat-window, message needs to be sent to server to acknowledge that user has left the room. This is possible to be done within current framework, just mentioning.

Keeping a limit on friends we can add as 10 or something – it would keep the size of the page small & till the time we are not doing incremental page update, we need to keep this kind of limit.
