  • ‘ those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same any more for the old is gone. A new life has begun’ 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • I now have hope where previously there was only despair. I can forgive now, where before there was only coldness… God is so alive for me. I can feel him guiding me and the complete and utter loneliness which I have been feeling is gone. God is filling a deep, deep void.
  • I felt like hugging everybody in the street…. I cannot stop praying, I even missed my bos stop today because I was so busy praying on the top deck.
  • ‘ Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God’ John, 1:12
  • Would you have described yourself as a Christian at the beginning of the course? ‘ Yes, but without any real experience of a relationship with God’ ‘ Sort of’ ‘ Possibly, yes/think so’ ‘ Not Sure’ ‘ Probably’ ‘ Ish’ ‘ Yes, though looking back possibly no’ ‘ No, a semi-Christian.’
  • ‘ I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life’ I John 5:13
  • ‘ Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me’ Revelation 3:20
  •
  • ‘ I am with you always’ Matthew 28:20
  • ‘ I give them eternal life, and they will never perish’ John 10:28
  • ‘ And this is the way to have eternal life-to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.’ John 17:3
  • ‘ My purpose is to give life in all its fullness’ John 10:10
  • ‘ Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone’ Revelation 21:1
  • ‘ Yes, dear friends, we are already God’s children, and we can’t even imagine what we will be like when Christ returns. But we do know that when he comes we will be like him as he really is.’ 1 John 3:2
  • ‘ No eye has sen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him’ 1 Corinthians 2:9
  • The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning… all their life in this world had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before C.S. Lewis, The last battle
  • … .but the free gift of God is eternal life though Christ Jesus our Lord Romans, 6:23b
  • ‘ Laying down your arms, surrendering, saying you are sorry, realising that you have been on the wrong track and being ready tot start life over again from the ground floor-that is the only way out of this whole.’ C.S. Lewis
  • Jean-Francois Gravelet Blondin (1824-1897)

  • Public acceptance ‘ For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him fom the dead, you will be saved’ Romans, 10: 8
  • ‘ We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him [i.e Jesus] the iniquity of us all’ Isaiah 53:6
  • ‘ Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus’ Roman 8:1
  • ‘ But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control.’ Galatians 5:22-23
  • ‘ So you should not be like cowering fearlful slaves. You should behave instead like God’s very own children, adopted into his family – calling him ‘Father, dear Father’. For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God’s children.’ Romans 8: 15-16
  • Heavenly Father, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life (take a few moments to ask his forgiveness for anything particular that is on your conscience). Please forgive me. I now turn from everything which I know is wrong. Thank you that you sent your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for me so that I could be forgiven and set free. From now on I will follow and obey him as my Lord. Thank you that you offer me this gift of forgiveness and your Spirit. I now receive that gift. Please come into my life by your Holy Spirit to be with me forever. Through Jesus Christ. Our Lord. Amen.
