Rainforests

Analyze the Learner
• 3rd grade class
• 20 students
• 7 African American students
• 13 Caucasian students
• 2 students with ADHD
Main Objective
• Students will analyze rainforests in terms of different types of
rainforests, climate, the animals in the habitat, the destruction of
rainforests, and the different resources we get from rainforests, all with
100% accuracy by the end of the week.
Day by Day Breakdown
• Day 1: students will learn the different types of rainforests by a Venn
diagram comparing and contrasting tropical and temperate rainforests.
• Day 2: now knowing the types of rainforests the students will learn the
different climates that exist in these different
• Day 3: from the different types of rainforests identified students will learn
the different animals that exist in these different habitats by researching
an animal of their choice using websites already approved by the teacher.
• Day 4: now we are going to discuss how rainforests benefit us by learning
the different resources that come from the rainforests, and after this
discussion students will go home and make a list of items in their house
that they think is from the rainforest.
• Day 5: now that students are familiar with the rainforests and animals that
live in this habitat, we will now analyze the destruction of rainforests and
possible ways to prevent this from happening by brainstorming possible
ways that can save rainforests and make a difference.
