  1. 1. TeacherTube: Media Sharing for the 21st Century Classroom Web 2.0 Advocate Presentation
  2. 2. What is TeacherTube?  TeacherTube is an alternative to YouTube. It allows for educational audio and video uploading and sharing without the dangers associated with YouTube.
  3. 3. TeacherTube
  4. 4. Features of TeacherTube  The following are some features of TeacherTube.  User Friendly  Upload support files to attach to video in order to complete a lesson  Unlimited uploads  Supports multiple video, audio and supporting file formats
  5. 5. Benefits of TeacherTube  Allows for sharing and collaboration  It is a good way to engage a generation that thrives on media sharing.  It is a safe site for video sharing  It allows for attaching supplementary materials to video  It’s free  It is a wonderful source of new ideas for teaching a topic
  6. 6. How can TeacherTube be used in the district classrooms? The following are just a few ways TeacherTube can be used.  The district has introduced SmartBoards into the Elementary school classrooms. These Smartboards have the ability to play streaming video. If TeacherTube is allowed through the firewall, videos can be downloaded and embedded in Smartboard lessons. This can make lessons more robust and engaging. This also means that videos can be viewed in these classrooms without the need for more equipment.  TeacherTube can be used by teachers to create tutorials and other supplementary lesson materials for students.  Teachers can have their students create and share videos as part of a project which can encourage collaboration
  7. 7. Conclusion  The current generation of students thrives on media sharing. It is only logical that media sharing becomes part of the learning experience in school TeacherTube can make that possible. It can promote a collaborative learning environment while providing fresh ideas and insights into lessons.
