How to apply for your own internship

  1. 1.  There are six different kinds of internships For a Government, Finance, and Journalism internship the deadline could be as early as the Fall (a year previous to when you would start) For all others they are most commonly due between January and April.
  2. 2.  May need to have completed a certain amount of credits Some only take students with a specific kind of major Many may need you to have completed specific classes, such as math or science classes These requirements will vary depending on the internship so they should be looked into.
  3. 3.  Documents need to apply: 1. Transcripts 2. Letters of Recommendation 3. Resume 4. Cover letter Also a list of some extra curricular activities and accomplishments could come in handy
  4. 4.  You never want to come across as pushy so a polite follow up a day or two after sending all your documents would show you are really interested in the job This will also insure they received everything they need Sometimes the employer could also let you know when a decision will be made or what the next step in the process is
