What Types of Website Work Best?
Firstly you need to decide what type of website you want to build. There are
several types of website you can build, but they are mainly consisting of 2
types:
• Blog
- Blog is a website that people that are mainly use to write their daily
work, and about themselves.
- Blog is quite popular today due to its simplicity
- However if you are serious about website, this should not be your
choice as it doesn’t look like conventional website
• Website
- Website is what you normally see on the internet as this is the type of
website that most people will build or create.
- This include normal website (content) , membership websites, forum,
photo gallery, calendar, whether…
- Easy and fine navigation bar
Many are confused if they want to build a website or a blog before starting a
website.
My suggestion is to go for the better choice, building a website, and not a
blog. Furthermore, with today’s open source support, you can build-in a blog

How to Make a Website for Free?
Making website for free is possible today with the competitive of internet service
providers. There are many companies on the web providing this kind of free
websites services to everybody who want to have their own websites but want
to it to be free.
The reason of being offered a free service is that these companies will place
advertisement on your website or such.
There are several companies that provide free website services, for example:
- http://www.blogspot.com
- http://www.freewebs.com
- http://www.weebly.com
- http://geocites.yahoo.com
- http://ww.tripod.lycos.com
and much more…
I used to have few websites that used these services before but I was not happy
for my website based on several reasons as stated below and went on build my
own websites.
If you really need to own website that look professional, try avoiding my pitfall
and bad experiences. I abandon the free services based on several reasons:
1. You cannot have http://www.YourName.com that you prefer. Most likely
it will look like http://YourName.ServiceProviderName.com or
http://www.ServiceProviderName.com/YourName /
The name looked ugly and not professional, not good impression.
2. No much control. For example, you want to share a file. You are not able
to do that.
3. Images. Most of the time, you cannot upload the image to the web
server. Even some
services allow you to upload images; your images might be resized
(limited size).

4. If your website has gained popularity, you would like to earn money from
advertisements. You can’t place ads around your website as you like.
5. Even worst, if the company place an ads around the corner of your
website or such. Your website will look ugly.
6. Not much design. There are only few templates / design available

How to Build a Professional Website at Lowest
Cost Possible?
Step 1: Get a Domain Name
Now you want to get a domain name for your website, it may be .com .net
.org or .info. I would suggest that you get a .com as it’s the most popular,
however .net .org .info .biz and .us also have no big different. It’s just the
name anyway.
A domain name is looked like this:
http://www.YourName.com
It look more professional and it’s easier for people to remember you instead
of remembering the long ugly name as you can get from free services.
You can register domain name with domain name registrar, a company that
to help you register your website name. There’re many companies out there
doing this but there is few which are selling at very low cost.
I use GoDaddy. It provides one of the great services with excellent control
panel on the web at very low cost. Sometimes, when there’s a promotion as
you register a new domain name, you can get it at $9.99 per year. On top of
that you can register with a discount code which gives you approximately
additional 10% discount:

Once you have registered a domain name with GoDaddy. Now you need to
have space to host your files and data. You can do it with your PC that
configured as a server, but you don’t want your PC to run 24 x 7, do you?
Thus you need to get a hosting service.
The problem is there are so much webhosting out there, how can you
determine which one is good for you. I’ve bad experiences with 3 webhosting
companies before I came to these good hosting companies.

Step 2: Getting a Good Webhosting Service
Webhosting is a service that gives you a space to host your website and files.
There are many webhosting services out there if you want to find online,
however the best that I could find is HostGator and Exabytes.
HostGator - $4.95 per month (recommended – low cost with no contract
commitment)
Exabytes - $3.65 per month (2 years subscription)
or $4.65 per month (1 year subscription)
or $ 7.65 monthly

They provide great support; the staffs can greatly help you within 12 hours.
So far, I receive great services and support when there was once their local
time was 2am to 5am midnight, I received response within 15minutes from
both of them.
Step 3: Setting Your DNS with GoDaddy
Once you have a domain name (from GoDaddy or other registrar) and web
hosting (from HostGator or Exabytes or other services), you need to login to
GoDaddy, go to the control panel to set your domain name DNS to your
webserver DNS.
You can find your web server DNS (HostGator or Exabytes) from the email
that they sent to you.

Step 4: Select the Best Website Open Source Scripts
A website couldn’t work without any code; this is how I get my website up in
just one minute. There are plenty of open source scripts (free) on the
internet that are developed by a group of people sharing their interest in the
field, including building website.
This group of people continuously updates and improves the scripts, and
making the scripts better and better over time. You can get great support
from them.
However, if you never know, there are too many open source scripts that
make you hard to choose even it’s free. If you participate in any online forum
about building website, they will recommend different types of open source
scripts by comparing each of them.
I started building website in year 2004. As a conservative person, I installed
different scripts on different websites of mine, and eventually end up with
only one that I use now, Joomla.

Joomla is an open source scripts that enables you to build your website
easily, which means it’s free.
As a powerful content management system (CMS), everything within Joomla
is WYSIWYG. You just have to write your content and publish it. It will do
everything for you in just seconds.

Installation of Joomla may take some times if you do not know how to do it.

Outsource for professional to install it for you, normally they will charge

Step 6: Select Your Website Design
There are plenty of free designs circulating on the internet and you may
download and use it for your website.
After you have installed your website with Joomla, you need a nice design for
your Joomla website. There are many free Joomla templates in the internet
that you can search for free; many have successfully got their website design
for free. You can do that too.
However, I’ve taken 2 years of experiences for searching nice and
professional free Joomla templates on how and where to find more than 3500

Once your design or your template is installed, you should have started posting
your articles.
Just login to the backend and start posting your contents and writing your
articles, your website is ready.
