Caves/ Porto wine Port wine is a Portuguese fortified wine produced exclusively in the Douro Valley in the northern provinces of Portugal. It is typically a sweet, red wine, often served as a dessert wine, and comes in dry, semi-dry, and white varieties. The reaches of the valley of the Douro River in northern Portugal have a microclimate that is optimal for cultivation of olives, almods, and especially grapes important for making the famous Port wine
The MariaPia bridge (Ponte MariaPia), commonlyknown as Ponte Dona Maria, is a railway bridge built in 1877 byGustave Eiffel. The bridge was built to avoid a 12 km detour, and started on 5 January 1876 and completed on 4 November 1877.
In recent years, UNESCO recognised its historic centre as a World Heritage Site. The later Ponte de Dom Luiz replaced the Ponte Pênsil. This last bridge was made by TeophileSeyirg, a former partner of Eiffel.
