FALAH (FAMILY ADVANCEMENT FOR LIFE AND HEALTH) <ul><li>AN INTRODUCTION: </li></ul><ul><li>FALAH is the project of family planning activities in both public and private sectors in Pakistan funded by USAID and managed by a consortium of national and international NGOs under the umbrella of Population Council. SGA is implementing partner in Sanghar District, with support of RSPN. </li></ul><ul><li>Family Advancement for Life and Health is five year USAID Funded project and focuses to increase the choice and use of methods of birth spacing in twenty five districts of Pakistan by removing barriers, improving understanding of the value of birth spacing in context of mother & child health and family well-being, increasing knowledge of methods of birth spacing methods to highlight the importance of Healthy Timing and Spacing in Pregnancies (HTSP) for improved mother and child health and promotion of birth spacing methods among MWRA and their Husbands and improving access to quality services in both the public and private sectors.. </li></ul>

Objectives of FALAH: (Family Advancement for Life and Health) <ul><li>The objective of FALAH is to promote the adoption of birth spacing and practice of optimal birth spacing using the modern and natural methods of contraception </li></ul><ul><li>Expected results </li></ul><ul><li>Demand generation for birth spacing </li></ul><ul><li>Revitalization of High-quality Birth Spacing and Family Planning Services in the Public Health and Population Sector </li></ul><ul><li>Reinforcement of High-quality Family Planning and Birth Spacing Services in the Private Health Sector </li></ul><ul><li>SOCIAL MARKETING OF FAMILY PLANNING COMMODITIES </li></ul>

PRINCIPLES AND VALUES OF FALAH PROJECT: <ul><li>No targets or quotas for service providers or referral agents </li></ul><ul><li>No payment of incentives and financial rewards to clients or program personnel </li></ul><ul><li>No denial of rights or benefits to persons who choose not to use FP </li></ul><ul><li>Comprehensible information on the method chosen to be provided to each client </li></ul><ul><li>Informed voluntary decision to be ensured for sterilization </li></ul><ul><li>No promotion of abortion services </li></ul>

SGA Methodology of conducting group meetings <ul><li>Introduction to the participants, purpose of the meeting </li></ul><ul><li>Pre awareness check of participants (Pre Test) to gauge their attitudes and knowledge on key concepts that will be covered in the meeting. </li></ul><ul><li>A story in a pictorial format that communicates the core concepts of FALAH’s communications strategy followed by a recap phase to reinforce the main messages </li></ul><ul><li>A brief introduction phase to all contraceptive methods, </li></ul><ul><li>Playing of a taped audio cassettes that are addressed some of the common myths and misconceptions on modern contraceptives </li></ul><ul><li>A post awareness check (Post Test) using the same methodology as the pre-test to gauge any positive change on participants’ attitudes and knowledge </li></ul><ul><li>A conclusion phase where the SGA CMO will thank the participants and provide names and addresses of nearby public and private sector outlets where the clients can go to get more information or seek products and services. </li></ul>
