  6. 6. TRANSPORT<br />Serbia owns one of the world’s oldest airline carriers,Jat airways which is founded in 1927<br />It has three international airport<br />The Historians have labeled Serbia and especially the valley of the Marova,as the crossroads between East and West<br />

POLITICS<br />Serbia regained its independence in 2006 after 88 years in various federation<br />The parliament announced a constituonal referendum that would replace the former Yugoslav constitution<br />It created the new framework for the newly nation by a new constitution of Serbia<br />
  8. 8. After World War II,Serbia became a constituent republic within the socialist Federal Republic at Yugoslavia<br />It is known as the Socialist Republic of Serbia and had a republic-branch of the federal communist party<br />
  9. 9. ECONOMY<br />GDP for 2010 estimated at 80 billion<br />Foreign direct investment was approximately 6 billion in 2006<br />FDI for 2007 reached 4.2 billion while real GDP per capita figures are estimated to have reached nearly 7 billion in April 2009<br />
  10. 10. The GDP growth rate showed increase by %5.8 in 2006,%7.5 in 2007,and %8.7 in 2008 as the fastest growing economy<br />According to the euro-stat which is directorate-General of the European Commission,Serbian GDP per capita stood at %37 of the EU average in 2008<br />
  11. 11. The Serbian economic system is classified by the World Bank as upper-middle income<br />The economy has a high unemployment rate of %14 and an unfavourable trade deficit <br />The country expects some major economic impulses and high growth rates in the next years<br />
  12. 12. given its recent high economic growth rates,which averaged %6.6 in the last three years<br />Serbia is the only European country outside the former USSR to have free trade agreement with Russia and Belarus <br />

Corporations investing in Serbia include:United States Steel,Philip Morris,Microsoft,Fiat,Coca-cola,Lafarge,Siemens,Carlsberg.<br />In the energy,Russian giants Lukoil and Gazprom have invested heavily.<br />In the trade sector,biggest foreign investors are France’s Intermarche,German Metro Cash-Carry,Greek Veropoulos and Slovenian Mercator<br />
