  • NCWise How to get started!
  • Objective
    • By the end of this teacher module you will be able to login to the NCWise Teacher Assisted Module, record attendance and set up your gradebook with 100% accuracy. After you have completed all three please come to the technology lab and login. We will go through all three together to answer any questions.
  • Logging On
    • Please contact the data manager (in the main office) to get your login information
    • Username: First_Last
    • Password: The data manager will give you one but you can feel free to change it
    • Database: Will always be ***51*
  • Login Screen
    • Here is what the login screen looks like.
    • Database is an example only
  • TAM Start Screen
    • Here is what your home screen will look like when you login.
  • Recording Attendance Must be done daily before 9:00am by all homeroom teachers.
  • Recording your attendance
    • Click the radio button that says “Homeroom” which will open up a listing of all your students.
    • Choose the correct date
    • Mark either A=Absent or L=Late
    • Mark a reason (all reasons should be unexcused, Debra will make changes for students who are excused.)
    • Mark the “Attendance Completed” box at the bottom of the screen so it will be sent to the data manager (Debra).
  • Attendance
    • Go ahead and choose the correct date that you are marking attendance.

  • TAM Gradebook Setup Teachers in grades 3-5 will set up grades using TAM.
  • Setup Options
  • Choose Preferences
  • Choose “My Options” Tab
  • My Options Tab
    • Choices you make in this tab will determine how your gradebook will be set up.
    • Choices made in this tab will determine how grades are calculated in the gradebook.
  • Category Weights
  • Category Weights
    • At SES we use category weights. This allows you to give weighted percentages to each category type. (homework, tests, projects, etc.)
    • All assessments in the same category will be averaged together and each category will be averaged to give the student grades.
  • Rounding Marks
    • When you click this button it will round the students percentages to the nearest whole number.
    • This is recommended but not mandatory.
    • It should be discussed as a grade level and everyone should do the same.
  • Default Settings
    • Numeric Score Default can be set.
    • Failure Threshold can be used as a visual aide to teachers. (JCS is 60%) All scores below this setting will appear with a pink background.
  • TAVG% Include Weight
    • Click this button so that the final grades at the end of the year will include all of the reporting periods. (1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th nine weeks)
  • Congratulations! You can now use NCWise TAM.
