  • 3. 5 Ws of VALLA Who can participate? ● Current library leaders ● Anyone who is interested in becoming a leader in libraries ● Librarians, paraprofessionals, administrators, faculty, directors, managers, volunteers ● You!
  • 4. 5 Ws of VALLA What is VALLA? The Virginia Library Leadership Academy offers an opportunity to focus on leadership in the library environment. Participants attend a 2-day workshop and then complete a project to benefit the library professional and their community.
  • 5. 5 Ws of VALLA When and where is VALLA held? ● May 5-6, 2014 ● Beautiful Staunton, Virginia, at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Conference Center
  • 6. 5 Ws of VALLA Why participate? ● To learn how to lead, and how to supervise ● To gain confidence in your abilities ● To give back to the library community ● To propose and complete a project that is meaningful to you and your library
  • 7. 5 Ws of VALLA (and 1 H) How do I apply? ● Online application (available in November) ● Letter of recommendation ● Statement of support from your library director/dean/highest ranking library official ● Registration fee (upon acceptance)
