  • 3. INTRODUCTION Marriage is something that mostly every girl is looking forward too. Some of these countries have different ways of celebrating marriages like in Mesopotamia they bought and sold their wives. In Greece they never got to chose who they got married to and in Egypt they had to avoid men and couldn't have no contact with them. In Canada you have to be 19 or older and could marry the same sex as you and in China you could never get married you could only have sexual contact.All of these countries had different laws about marriage and i thought some were unfair to the women cause you couldn’t chose the man you wanted to marry. MARRIAGE IN MESOPOTAMIA Marriage in Mesopotamia is very different from here because wives were bought and sold to men and this was like slavery also in Mesopotamia marriage and slavery were like legal cousins. If a women brought shame to the family she must kill herself. Soon after puberty, they young girls were considered ready to marry. Thursday, 8 May, 14
  • 5. MARRIAGE IN GREECE Marriage in Greece was one of the woman’s most important thing in life but, the woman never got to chose who she could marry. Marriage was usually arrange by the parents of the bride and the groom himself.A man would be looking for three specific things in a woman. Most of the women were 14 when they got married and the men were about 30.The men were aloud to marry their sisters from the same mothers. Thursday, 8 May, 14
  • 6. MARRIAGE IN EGYPT In Egypt women were stated lower than men. The women were expected to avoid contact with men. As children, they were raised independent and couldn’t rely on the father or the brothers.When they were married, they had to depend on their husbands to make all the decisions while the women had to do their household chores.When the women were married they had to make to sons before they stopped producing their babies.   • 7. MARRIAGE IN CANADA Marriage in Canada has many different strict rules. One of the rules says that you can’t marry anybody related to you. Another one is that you have to be 19 or older to get married. Marriage in Canada can be either civil or religious. Marriages can be performed by judges, clerks in court, marriage commissioners, and etc. Same sex marriage is legal in Canada nationally since 2005. Thursday, 8 May, 14
  • 8. MARRIAGE IN CHINA Marriage back in the old days in China they never got married they only had a sexual relationship. Everybody had to respect proper relationship between family members and regulate sexual behavior. They married people among different classes, like the upper classes married among themselves, while the commoners married among themselves also, avoiding marriage with slaves or other ordinary people.This was enforced by the law.
