Author Finds Herself After Rape, Physical and Emotional Abuse.
“I AM MORE – THE JOURNEY”

NEW JERSEY – September 30, 2009 - The book reveals the journey “Ms. Toni” took to
not only find herself, but identify her strengths, weaknesses, dislikes, and desires. She is
transparent in her inclusion of her personal experiences with rape, domestic violence, and
emotional abuse. The reader takes the journey along with her through both prose and
poetry. Then, the reader has an opportunity to take the journey for themselves via the
guided journal located in the rear of the book. The recurrent theme is: You are no longer
a product of your past; you are a facilitator of your future.” The theme is one key to
being able to say “I AM MORE”. The journey is one of self discovery, self-appreciation,
and emotional and spiritual growth.
A forensic accountant and mother of two sons under twelve, she lives in New Jersey, 10
miles from New York City. Ms. Toni was born to a single mother of very modest means.
Raised in Irvington, NJ for half of her childhood, her mother married her step-father, and
they slowly moved from the lower-lower class to the middle-middle class. She is the
daughter and grand-daughter of ministers and pastors.
Inspired by Maya Angelo, Ms. Toni says that, “I want to inspire inner strength and
introduce spiritual empowerment in the lives of those with broken hearts and spirits. It is
important that they recognize that they are more than what has happened to them. They
are more than what they have done. They are more than what they can ever dream to be.”
