  1. 1. VICTORIAN TIMES Queen Victoria ruled Britain from 1837 to 1901. Great Britain changed a lot. The main reason for the change was the Industrial Revolution , because people moved from the countryside to the cities to find jobs in the new factories.
  2. 2. Queen Victoria <ul><li>There were many changes in Britain. </li></ul><ul><li>Great Britain became the most powerful Empire in the World. </li></ul><ul><li>Trains became popular </li></ul><ul><li>A lot of factories were built in cities. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Now… <ul><li>For the first time in Britain’s history, there were more people living in the cities than in the countryside. </li></ul><ul><li>1) What do you think are the benefits and problems of more people living in cities rather than villages? (place?) </li></ul>

Benefits and problems… <ul><li>With the new factories opening up in cities many men moved with their families to start new lives. </li></ul><ul><li>Products were made more quickly. </li></ul><ul><li>Some men who worked there earned a lot of money. </li></ul><ul><li>This machine was used by Cadbury to wrap </li></ul><ul><li>chocolates.Before the machine existed, a man used to do it. </li></ul>
