  • 1. VICTORIAN TIMES Queen Victoria ruled Britain from 1837 to 1901. Great Britain changed a lot. The main reason for the change was the Industrial Revolution , because people moved from the countryside to the cities to find jobs in the new factories.
  • 2. Queen Victoria
    • There were many changes in Britain.
    • Great Britain became the most powerful Empire in the World.
    • Trains became popular
    • A lot of factories were built in cities.
  • 3. Now…
    • For the first time in Britain’s history, there were more people living in the cities than in the countryside.
    • 1) What do you think are the benefits and problems of more people living in cities rather than villages? (place?)
  • 4. Benefits and problems…
    • With the new factories opening up in cities many men moved with their families to start new lives.
    • Products were made more quickly.
    • Some men who worked there earned a lot of money.
    • This machine was used by Cadbury to wrap
    • chocolates.Before the machine existed, a man used to do it.

    • What are the benefits and problems of using so many machines in a factory? (workers?)
