  1. 1. Global Warming<br />Jenny and Morgan<br />
  2. 2. What is…<br /><ul><li> Greenhouse effect:
  3. 3. allows earth to stay warm enough for life to survive
  4. 4. Climate Change:
  5. 5. Effects change in weather and seasonal changes over long periods of time
  6. 6. Global Warming:
  7. 7. When the Earth Heats up</li></ul> because of Greenhouse<br /> gases trapping heat and<br /> light from the sun in the<br /> Earth’s atmosphere<br />
  8. 8. What is the Relation?<br /> The Greenhouse effect causes more greenhouse gases to leak into the atmosphere, creating global warming. Since Global Warming is the gradual heating of the atmosphere over time, it is a factor that contributes to climate change.<br />
  9. 9. Causes<br /><ul><li>Natural Causes:
  10. 10. Volcanic eruptions
  11. 11. Sunspots
  12. 12. Wobbly Earth
  13. 13. Greenhouse effect
  14. 14. Human Causes:
  15. 15. The release of heat into the environment
  16. 16. Releasing Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
  17. 17. Land use</li></li></ul><li>Consequences<br /><ul><li>Increased probability of droughts
  18. 18. Economic consequences
  19. 19. Destructive storms
  20. 20. Animal extinction
  21. 21. Decreasing food and water supplies</li></li></ul><li> Impact on Economy<br /> Global warming can cause many dangerous storms, which can have disastrous affects on the Earth. Destruction of homes and land is expensive to repair, and can take a very long time. <br />
  22. 22. How to Fight it<br />Recycle<br />Use less heat/air conditioning<br />Save more energy<br />Drive less<br />Plant a tree<br />Encourage others to <br /> do the same<br />
  23. 23. Other Arguments<br /><ul><li>The climates have always changed over time
  24. 24. People aren’t causing it
  25. 25. Animals and plants can adapt
  26. 26. Antarctica is gaining ice
  27. 27. Cosmic rays cause
  28. 28. Global Warming
  29. 29. Its not happening
  30. 30. Other planets are warming
  31. 31. It’s El Niño </li></li></ul><li>Personal Opinions<br /><ul><li>Global warming is actually happening!
  32. 32. People have a huge affect on Global Warming
  33. 33. It’s taking a toll on plants and animals
  34. 34. The poles are melting
  35. 35. We need to find a solution before it gets worse
  36. 36. We should try to save energy
  37. 37. People need to be aware of the dangers of Global Warming so they can do everything possible to help </li></li></ul><li>Sources<br />http://library.thinkquest.org<br />science.howstuffworks.com<br />http://www.ecy.wa.gov<br />http://marinebio.org<br />http://peer.tamu.edu<br />www.koshland-science-museum.org<br />www.acoolerclimate.com<br />http://environmentalgraffiti.com<br />www.americanprogress.org<br />http://environment.about.com<br />http://www.skepticalscience.com/argument.php<br />http://www.myessentia.com/<br />http://www.ucar.edu/learn/1_3_1.htm<br />http://www.bluemarble4us.com/<br />
