    1. Proventiv Managed Services Presented by MSI Services, Inc.
    2. What is Managed Services? In the computer support industry, a “Managed Service” is any service provided to the client organization by an outside entity for the purpose of controlling cost, optimizing operations or managing risk. Any one “Managed Service” may accomplish one or more of the stated purposes. When a Managed Service Provider (MSP) bundles these service offerings together, they are commonly referred to as “Managed Services”.
    3. Purpose of Managed Services
      • Control Cost
        • Predictive, Stabilized Support Cost
        • IT Staff Replacement or Augmentation
        • Reduction of unplanned, reactive support expenditures
      • Optimize Operations
        • No HR overhead for IT Staff
        • Required Maintenance is regularly scheduled & executed
        • Productivity gains achievable through increased up-time
      • Manage Risk

        • Reduction of Staff dependency risk
        • Monitoring allows 24/7 response and remediation
    4. Why Managed Services? “ Businesses today are more dependent on computer networks, translating into higher expectations for network stability and up-time. Computer problems that cause down-time are increasingly viewed as intolerable. To meet this higher demand, networks require proper maintenance . Due to advances in technology and remote support capabilities, service providers can employ skilled staff to deliver that required maintenance at a reduced cost. System stability and up-time increase, support costs decrease and stabilize, and the stage is set for productivity gains both from more uptime and better monitoring.”

    6. What does an MSP do?
      • MSPs use people, computers, software and the Internet to:
      •
      • Perform all the tasks that are widely considered to be prudent computer maintenance through either remote access or on-site visits.
      • Monitor the “health” of a computer network by loading software that constantly reports vital signs back to a main system. That system sends out alerts when a vital sign hits a threshold.
      • Provide computer support to users and their PCs, often remotely, for a variety of problems.
      • Provide software support for many popular software applications.
      • Provide feedback to management on the overall health of the system.
      • Provide “Virtual CIO/CTO” services to clients.
    7. How does this help my business? Stabilized Costs – Support is typically delivered at a fixed monthly price. This allows the business to budget for computer support - much like rent. Stabilized System Performance – Computers will run better and stay up longer because they get the preventative care and proactive attention they need. Proactive support – Monitoring “vital signs” helps to identify issues that would present themselves as problems or even catastrophic events, translating into higher costs and unplanned downtime.
    8. Is this right for my business? Do you consider your computers as valuable tools used in the pursuit of achieving your business goals , and consider the money spent to procure and maintain those computers as an investment in the success of your business? If you answered YES, your business is a great candidate for Managed Services. If you have some reservations, additional research should help determine if an MSP program warrants serious consideration. If you answered no it will be difficult for an MSP to make a compelling argument for participation in a program. But don’t dismiss yourself from consideration. Poor support experiences in the past may have helped to shape a negative opinion of the computer’s role in you business. You owe it to yourself to get both sides of the story before making a decision.
    9. What’s Next?
      • My answer was yes – You are ready to discuss MSP plans and pricing.
      • My answer was no – Discuss your view of the computer’s role with your support professional for a balanced view.
      • My answer was not definitive – Ask your support professional to compare your current support scenario with an MSP program to see if there is a fit.
